Hello everyone,

The Detroit Rugby Olde Guys Select (DOGS) will be hosting a 1 Day Oldies Tournament on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Farwell field (8 Mile and Mound) starting at 8:30am and ending around sometime after 4:30pm. We will be following the Golden Oldies rules listed below, including special provisions for those over 60 (See Below) – (ID’s will be required). The Max # of games will be 3 and a minimum of 2 games. We would like to get 8 teams maximum 4 teams minimum to participate. We will also be holding a club singing completion after the game with each team to sing a minimum of 1 song for the competition. Please indicate the Song on your entry.

The cost is $400 Per team (average $20 Per player for a 20 player roster) and includes a T-shirt (Specify sizes on entry form, food after the competition and trophies/prizes. The due date to at register is June 3rd and to Pay by Saturday, June 10th.

Detroit Golden Oldies Tournament
Saturday June 24, 2017
Hosted by Detroit Old Guys Select (DOGS)
Come join the DOGS on Saturday June 24, 2017 at Farwell Field for a day of Fun,
friendship, fraternity and family. This will be a social event and open to men over 35
years of age. This tournament is not intended to be competitive and rules are in place
to ensure the older players are not subjected to tackles.
We are only accepting the first 8 teams that pay and there will be a minimum of 2
games and a maximum of 3 games played during the day.
The cost will be $400 (USD) per team (20 Team Roster) and include a T-shirt, Rugby and
Dinner at our new club house and Prizes.
Some of the rules will include:
• No Kicking between the 22’s
• No Contested Scrums
• Colored Shorts will be honored
• No Lifting in Line outs
• No Quick Line outs or Quick Taps
• Hockey style replacements
• 3 – periods – 10 Minutes, 20 Minutes, 10 Minutes
Each Team requirements include:
• Payment by June 10th , 2017 to Michigan Rugby Football Union
Registration by June 34, 2017 to Mike Gangler (Email or letter)

• Shirt sizes required by June 3rd to ensure correct sizes
• Must submit 1 rugby song for Singing Contest
• Colored Short participants must be submitted by June 15th
• We will need volunteer referees from the participating teams –and they will be

Red Shorts – 60 – 64
• Not to be tackled to the ground or pushed off their feet
• Must be “Clamed and Held”
• Must Pass to a player not in Red, Gold or Purple Shorts
Gold Shorts – 65 - 69
• Not to be tackled to the ground or pushed off their feet
• Must be “Clamed and Held”
• Must Pass to a player not in Red, Gold or Purple Shorts
• May run up to 15 Meters in total before passing to a team mate wearing club
shorts only
Purple Shorts – 70 And Over
• Any Player wearing purple shorts is not to be impeded in any way and is affored
