The DRFC’s Homecoming to host The Michigan High School Girls’ Rugby playoffs

On Saturday, May 19 2012, the DRFC will host its 2nd annual Homecoming Day. All three squads, The Old Boys, the DII Men and the DI Women will be facing off against visiting opponents from faraway Southfield and beyond. But that’s not all!!! Our very own “Mean Joe Grilling Machine” Decker will be serving up some dogs and egg sammiches for all the hungry ruggers. And to top it all off, eight high school girls’ squads will be playing their hearts out to win the state championship. Come see who will be the best. Will it be Lakeview, the crafty girls from Berkley, or will Traverse City dominate the field? You’ll have to come watch and see at Farwell Field this Saturday. Matches begin at 9 AM. Stay tuned for updates.

DRFC Men at Toledo

Match(Weekend) Report 9-10-2011        Toledo, OH

Match points: 5 for an unconverted try, 7 for a
converted try. 3 for a penalty. 2 for each conversion. Currently, the forwards
have outscored the backs 16-12. But that’s because our kicker is a forward.
Great teamwork, fellas.

Toledo, Ohio

Ohio. Again. Another grey day for the ebony crimson & gold.
The Celts were fresh off a loss and itching for a win. A Welsh captain donned
his war mask in the near distance , and called for his troops to gather. It was
the beginning of a match that would shape the DRFC’s focus for the rest of the
2013 Fall season.

First Half

Toledo attacked first off a lost kickoff with power up the
middle from their big forwards. They pressured the DRFC defense early and
scored. 5-0 Toledo. Liam adjusted his kilt.

The Cobras returned hard at the Celts, and punished their
line for leaving too many gaps. Chris “I’m too sexy for the ball”
Bloks broke through the gain line and scored. 5-5 tie.

But the Celts were at home, and crying infants from the
sideline inspired them to forge on for a win. They scored quickly and went up
10-5. And then they scored again. And again. By the time the fertilizer settled,
their pack had scored 19 unanswered points. 24-5 Celts. The grey day was
starting to taste like charcoal in each Cobra’s mouth guard.
